| How do you know when you are getting ready to go on a binge?

| and how do you stop it? The reason I ask is because when I go on a binge I keep binging for months. Until I feel so low I just want to crawl under a rock and die. Then I'll say enough is enough at some point.
I've been binging off and on since April '09. On March 1st of this year I decided enough was enough. I did really well until April 6th, that's when I stopped logging in my food and meals into The Daily Plate. I've gained 20 lbs since then.
I don't know exactly why I stopped logging my food but I remember floundering some a few days prior. Maybe this is why, I remember trying to fool myself with the amount of calories I was consuming. Like one day I would already have used up all my calories and I would tell myself that I could have insert food here and then I could just subtract it from the next days calories and everything would be ok. Or I remember a couple of days I ate a bunch of junk and thought it's alright because I'm still within my daily calorie limit. But I just sabotaged myself because I started craving more junk towards the end of the day.
Actually, I just answered my own question... I said I don't know why I stopped logging my food but I just figured it out. It's because I quit being honest with myself.
Anyway, how do you know when you're getting ready to binge? Does it sneak up on you or are there clues that you recognize? I want to know because I want to prevent this from happening again. How do you revert back to eating right and feeling right again?

| Yay for me I actually cooked broccoli for the first time. I roasted it with grape tomatoes, evoo and garlic. It wasnt bad, i need to experiment with more flavors. This is a pretty big goal for me. Just wanted to pat myself on the back.

| A buddy on Buddy slim website blogged about this website and said it was great so I decided to join and check it out!
So about me: My highest weight was 312 and when I really started trying to lose weight I was 280. I joined Curves and used Sparkpeople.com to track my calories. I also started walking away the pounds with Leslie Sansone. Since then I have tried other types of exercises like yoga (which I don't really like...) but Pilates (which I do like!) and even walking outside, Tae Bo and kick boxing. I try to do different things so I don't get bored!
Well this month after a year with Curves I quit. I was bored with the workout and I don't think it was giving me results. I had a pair of 5 pound dumbbells and started doing the 30 day shred. I am starting the 3rd level this week! I am not sure what other things I am going to do for strength training, but it will be nice to be able to create new routines that challenge my mind and body so I avoid boredom.
At the moment, I am about 188 (I keep fluctuating!) and I sort of plateaued I believe. But that is ok. I want to focus on having better body composition by building lean muscle while losing fat. My BMI says I am overweight however I can wear a size Large or Junior XL. But because I have never been a healthy weight in my adult life, I am not sure of what weight I should be exactly. But when I began my goal weight was 150 so I am going to try to get there!
hmmm other things about me, I have hypothyroid.

| I'm wondering if anyone else on here has a tongue ring. I am having gallbladder removal surgery in a few weeks and they said I will have to take my tongue ring out because they will be putting a tube down my throat. I've had this piercing for about 5 years, but have never left it out for a significant amount of time. I heard the tongue ring closes quick? Anyone have any advice? |

| Hi - I'm new here. I am 38 and I live in BC, Canada. I am not sure what my starting weight is - I will find out tonight. Last time I weighed myself I was 348, but I am sure it has gone up from there!
I realized a couple of weeks ago that I never really look in the mirror! I was out shopping with my husband, and while he was trying on a pair of jeans, I caught a glimpse in the mirror of someone I didn't recognize. I almost started crying right there in the store when I realized that it was me! I do my make-up, brush my teeth and a cursory check to make sure my skirt isn't tucked up in my underwear and stuff - but I haven't "seen" myself in a long time. I was honestly depressed for days.
I thought that would be my wake-up call, but it wasn't! I am sure I have gained weight since then too!
I am married to a wonderful man, who supports me no matter where I am at. I have 2 wonderful children (4 1/2 and 21 months). I was sure after I had my baby that I would get on track and lose the weight. After all, I wanted to be around to enjoy my children for a long time. But, that was at least 50 pounds ago!
I know there is no sense getting frustrated with myself, but I can't help it. I keep waiting for something to click with me and to find the motivation to lose weight. But, it hasn't happened. Now I think maybe I just force it to click, but I'm not sure where to start.
My biggest downfall is when everyone has gone to bed and I am sitting up by myself. I am tired, stressed and I eat! But not just one or two cookies (for example) - the whole bag! I don't know where this compulsion comes from. I am bigger than anyone else in my family - actually, I am probably as big as my sister and brother combined!
Anyway, sorry, I hope this doesn't sound like a sob story. I don't mean it that way. I am just looking for some advice where to start - we are broke at the moment, so I can't join a gym, and I can't join WW (where I had some success before). I am also hoping maybe there is someone that wants to correspond, and we can support each other. I need some accountability!

| I haven't binged in a long time... a few months/since I started watching what I eat. However I had a major one today. The worst part about it? I planned to eat a lot. I knew that if I went to McDonald's for lunch today that I would eat too much. One would think that I would avoid McDonald's like the plague if I knew that before I went. However, I fell into my own trap and I feel disgusting. To make it a lesson to me and try to teach myself to not do it again, I looked up some nutrition facts on everything I ate. I felt even worse. The sad part is... even though I ate that much and it was gross, I feel good right now. :(So, use this thread as a place to confess your most recent binge and how you felt afterwards. Also, words of encouragement would be appreciated... as well as whatever you do now that keeps you from binging.
Ok here's what I had:
2 McDoubles: 380cals each, 19g fat each, 920g sodium each, 22g protein each
Large order of french fries: 500cals, 25g fat, 350g sodium, 6g protein
10 piece chicken nuggets: 460cals, 29g fat, 1000g sodium, 24g protein
bbq grilled snack wrap: 260cals, 9g fat, 830g sodium, 18g protein
TOTAL: 1,980cals, 101g fat, 4,020g sodium, 92g protein
To think that was all in one sitting.... goodness me. |

I am starting back on plan because I am getting close to having gained back all the 32 lbs I lost. I have MOST of my materials but not the book on LA express. When I started (18 months ago) I had a new employee and she never even started me off on LA express.

| I've canceled my membership (I was on monthly pass) so I'll keep going for 2 more weeks that I've prepaid for, but that's all. I really need the $40/month for lots of little reasons that have just accumulated over the summer - the biggest being that my DH, who is a professor, did NOT get a raise this year (no one did), and they cut two of the 4 summer courses he was supposed to be teaching, so we've been dipping into our savings all summer, and need to really tighten our budget.
Has anyone 'successfully quit'? That sounds dumb :) I know... I'm going to continue tracking on my own, and turn to all of you here for support & encouragement. I hope I can continue to lose on my own. |

im new here and dont really know how it works around here. im from germany and lost about 25 pounds in the last 2 month (a lot of running and watching what i eat, at the moment i eat about 1200 -1300 calories a day). let me tell you watching the biggest loser online on youtube was and still is a big inspiration espacially jillian. my question is, here in germany the biggest loser is not shown on tv, is there a possibility to get it on dvd?:p i think i already watched everything about biggest loser on youtube and love to see the whole episodes not only pieces of it.

| I know asking for recipes bugs some readers so, sorry, but I have looked on loads of websites - I'm sure chickies have better ideas!
I'm really down to the bare store cupboard ingredients and need to spin them out as long as. Don't feel sorry for me, I've had a vacation in Spain, I'm going to Paris in October, God willing. Apart from the fact that cooking frugally and veggielly helps me concentrate on weightloss too, I Do need to draw in my financial horns a bit. I've also had a lot of vet's bills for the dogs this past few weeks, and that's even with insurance.
If I tell you what I've got in my cupboard, I'd really appreciate any suggestions as to how to make it last as long as possible, while buying as little extra as possible.
I'm just eating a Quick Beans and Rice recipe from Frugal Abundance, which is delicious, may have overdone the chili flakes a bit, it's giving me a hot flush!
